New 50MP camera sensor called ISOCELL GN2.
Samsung has recently announced its new 50MP camera sensor called ISOCELL GN2. It is the development of GN1 a year ago and has larger pixels. Better energy efficiency, and a new PDAF innovative technology. Namely Dual Pixel Pro.
The classification size of the ISOCELL GN2 sensor is 1/1.12″. Which is the largest sensor in mobile phones, with 1.4μm pixels. Used for “especially photos taken point by point in conventional settings”. The famous four-pixel merge innovation, Now a larger 2.8μm pixel.
The new sensor also provides the ability to re-plan shadow pixels by using “sophisticated re-mosaic calculations” to take 100MP photos, as Samsung said. In troublesome conditions, such as low light conditions or fast objects, the result should be fast and precise self-adjustment. It should also resolve past limitations, such as identifying equal or horizontal stripes. This means that now ISOCELL GN2 and all future Dual Pixel Pro cameras will get center lock faster.
Different specifications of Samsung ISOCELL GN2 are integrated with Smart ISO Pro. This can produce instant HDR pictures with low motion and static. And video recording at 1080p @ 480 fps or 4K @ 120 fps. The organization has confirmed that the sensor is now in mass production.
