Samsung Display Launches, of 90Hz Refresh Rate Laptop, OLED Panels

Samsung Display has announced that the company has begun mass production of its 90Hz refresh root laptop OLED panels, which are included in the 14-inch version of the new ASUS Zenbook and Vivobook Pro. Laptops support up to 90Hz refresh rate.

Refresh rate is the number of offsets per second that displays a new image. A 90Hz refresh rate means that the display can display up to 90 steel images a second. Enables a high refresh rate on the lightweight display. However, even a refresh requires the use of a capacity graphics card and a used battery, so it’s not always the best choice.

An OLED panel responds much faster than the LCD panel and can show a natural-looking image with a lower refresh rate than the LCD panel. According to Samsung Display’s internal tests, its 90Hz OLED panel showed a maximum length of 0.9mm, the tenth improvement in comparison to the blur length of the 120Hz LCD panel in video playback. Today, the height of the blur means less motion blur and clear movement when watching the videos.

“The demand for laptops is constantly evolving as working from home and remote learning becomes a new practice,” said Y.C Chen, deputy general manager of ASUS’s PC BU Product Marketing Center. “OLED displays can meet different users’ needs as they’re used for laptop school, virtual meetings, video streaming, gaming, and more.”

Samsung Display is providing OLED panels for global laptop manufacturers, including ASUS, Lenovo, Dell, HP, and Samsung Electronics.

The Samsung display said that the 90Hz OLED panel offers a wide range of options for users who are looking to enjoy high-performance content on their laptops. “With our latest OLEDs, we are on the move and delivering market displays in display technologies that provide better image quality.”

In addition to the 14-inch 90Hz OLED panels, ASUS’s Zenbook and Vivobook Pro models feature Samsung Display’s first high-resolution 4K OLEDs within the larger 16-inch panels. With better performance across variants and sizes, Samsung Display continues to expand its OLED lineup for laptops.
