Best camera smartphones, 2020 and 2021 were important years for the smartphone camera industry. In the coming years, vendors will use sophisticated hardware to increase resolution and introduce new optical systems with greater zoom.

Although these smartphones reviewed here have mostly been on the market awhile, it’s crucially important to re-test them after each update to gauge how well vendors are responding to the latest trends.

In spite of all those claims of huge camera improvements, most Android vendors have a tendency to neglect the camera software in favor of other features, which is unfortunate considering how important photography is nowadays.

In this review, we will be briefly going over each of the devices and get to know their camera setups. I’ll also share some new devices we haven’t had time to fully review yet.

The following 6 devices are having the best camera smartphones, I have briefly shared the information of cameras of the best smartphones.

1. The first best camera smartphone Google Pixel 5

The Google Pixel 5, like the iPhone, is the oldest phone on the list by a year. The hardware itself hasn’t changed since last year’s Pixel 4, but Google has added an ultra-wide-angle lens. It’s a bit weird that Google uses a 16.2MP UWA sensor for RAW shots, however, the resolution is only available when shooting in RAW.

Other images are shot with a 12.2MP sensor. My main gripe with Pixel 5 is that the main camera sensor is a 1.4µm 12.2MP unit with no extra features.

In good light conditions, the Pixel 5 is able to maintain more shadow details instills, improving dynamic range over its predecessors with new software processing. It does all of that with its newer HDR+ algorithm.
The only phone in the lineup that doesn’t have a telephoto lens and uses the main sensor for multi-frame upscaling.

2. Second best camera smartphone is OnePlus 9 Pro

The OnePlus 9 Pro features a new wide-angle camera, which uses a 50.3-megapixel image sensor to take 12.6-megapixel photos (due to binning), and has large 1.0µmnative pixels and 2.0µm binned pixels.

This results in a pretty big-sized sensor—a lot bigger than other typical smartphone cameras. The module also features an in-mold spacer (ISM) lens, which allows for image correction without degrading the image quality like what is typically seen in other devices.

The primary camera on camera uses a new 48-megapixel sensor that captures photos with 1.22µm sized pixels and that’s binned down to 12 megapixels, which means there are now 2.24µm pixels. The 1/1.43” sensor with 1.22µm native pixels may not be the largest in this class of device, but it certainly is a step above the norm of recent years.

3.IPhone 12 Pro

Apple’s latest-generation cameras are important not only for their hardware characteristics but also for their software and image processing capabilities. The iPhone 12 Pro has a conventional trio of camera modules, including an ultra-wide lens, wide lens, and a short telephoto unit at 13.2 and 25.7 megapixels.

This generation sees the main camera gain a familiar setting with the inclusion of a larger aperture, allowing for more light gathering capabilities and a brighter image when compared to other models.

The three cameras use sensors that are each 12.2 megapixels in size, though the main module uses a sensor that is 1/2.26 inches in size, and even by today’s standards, the pixel sizes are considered medium.

4. Xiaomi Mi 11

The Mi 11 features the sensors from the previous generation Mi 10. Unlike almost any other super-high-res smartphone device, its main camera sensor has a 108MP native resolution. It’s among the first sensors of 1/1.33 format and it is really fascinating.

With a 108 megapixel sensor, the pixel density is higher than most other smartphone cameras. At 21 arc seconds, we can tell if an image is in focus or not, even though the smartphone has a 24.57 mm focal length.

There are very few smartphones in the market with true 108MP lens and this is what makes the Xiaomi Mi 11 one of the best camera smartphones.

5. Galaxy S21

The Samsung Galaxy S21’s camera capabilities are largely the same as those of the S20, though small improvements have been made. The ultra-wide camera has a 12.2MP Bayer sensor featuring 1.4µm pixels, while the main camera has a 12.2MP with 1.8µm pixels.

The Galaxy S20 and S21 series are one of the top phones in the market that has a unique 64MP wide-angle lens. It’s vastly different from other phone cameras. This lens has a 27.6mm focal length versus the 25.7mm of the main camera module. The difference in focal length is considerably large compared to most other cameras.

And even though it achieves this high resolution at a comparatively wide field of view, the telephoto lens mounted on the rear-facing camera module means that your cropped and scaled-down 12MP resolution images will show no optical distortion at all up to 2.53x. This is one of the strongest points of the Samsung Galaxy S series cameras.

6. Galaxy S21 Ultra

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is a new smartphone from one of the market’s most recognizable brands that have been gaining major popularity in 2017. Unlike the S21, which features an ultra-wide-angle lens, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra uses a different sensor manufacturer and is a few pixels smaller, but otherwise, it remains quite similar to its predecessor.

The S21 Ultra has a 12-megapixel camera sensor from Samsungs new generation of point-and-shoot sensors. It is expected to improve on the low-light performance of last year’s models.

The camera has an 80mm F2.0 lens. This is actually a new type of lens on smartphones because it’s three times faster than the industry standard. Aperture refers to the opening or closing of a hole that allows light in. The bigger the aperture, the more light is allowed into your smartphone. The S21 Ultra offers 1.22-micron pixels, allowing for better clarity and image detail.

If you’re in the market for a new phone with a great, it’s hard to get a grasp on what the differences are between all of the devices available. We have compared the best camera smartphones currently in the market to help you make a wise decision.
